Normally when I release a playlist I lay out the songs to reflect the race I am running. In the beginning, I may have fun, easy-going songs and change the tempo and type of song depending on where my mindset might be at the point in the race. Sometimes I will make a playlist that has music with links to the area like I did with the playlist for Los Angeles or San Francisco Marathon.

I debated on making a similar playlist for Houston with music that was from the region or maybe expand the list to include music from all over Texas, but to be honest my Country music IQ is not as strong as it is with other genres. So I just picked music that felt like it matched the positive vibes of the Houston Marathon and some music from Houston i.e. Blue October & ZZ Top which are both Houston based artists that I enjoy.

So I give you my Country Road Run Mix, this isn’t a race playlist this was the playlist that I played on shuffle while on training runs for the Houston Marathon. The playlist that I will be playing this Sunday is a slightly modified version of the playlist I used for the NYC Marathon this last November.

I hope you enjoy.
